Aerogel, also know as frozen smoke, is the world’s lowest density solid, clocking in at 96% air. If you hold a small piece in your hand, it’s practically impossible to either see or feel, but if you poke it, it’s like styrofoam. It supports up to 4,000 times its own weight and can withstand a direct blast from two pounds of dynamite. It’s also the best insulator in existence.

Dear mother,
I don’t think you understand how much stress I’m going through. Although there’s only two weeks left of school, I have a couple projects, essays, and many assignments remaining. On top of that I’m already starting college app stuff, of which I need to finish by Wednesday for a meeting. On top top or that I’m an fbla officer now so that’s a whole new responsibility. Well, of course like you say SATIIs this coming Saturday are important, and I should’ve been studying, but I wasn’t because of all the work I already had. My grades are borderline right now, neither I, nor you, want me to get a C. Dont yell at me because im on facebook or playing d3. Im still trying my best. So please, for the next couple weeks, let me be. Don’t yell at me b/c it’s just gonna stress me out even more. You’re probably mad at me, but I still love you.
Your son,
Aaron Matsumoto
i want to disconnect myself from all of society for awhile
because of the stupid shit i put on myself
and what people think of me
as a player or some shit like that
when that’s nothing like me
Not sure that I’ve ever been so honored to introduce someone as I am right now.
Gac Filipaj is a refugee from the former Yugoslavia. For the past twelve years, he has worked as a janitor for Columbia University. His job title is “Heavy Cleaner,” which includes emptying the trash and cleaning the toilets.
During this time, he worked until 11pm every night during the week. After his shift concluded, he would start studying. This weekend, after twelve years of study, Gac graduated from Columbia University with a Classics degree. Rarely have so many qualities I admire been wrapped up in a single person.

Heartwarming Tearjerker of the Day: The sheer cliffs at the mouth of Sydney Harbor have long been a popular Australian suicide spot. But they’re about to get a lot more deadly — the local man who is credited with talking at least 160 people out of killing themselves since 1964 died this week.
Window-watcher Don Ritchie, known as the Angel of the Gap, could spot the troubled ones from his home across the street; he’d wander down to the cliff-edge and calmly ask, “Can I help you in some way?” More often then not, he could. He’d chat with them a bit, then invite them back to his place for a cup of tea.
“My ambition has always been to just get them away from the edge, to buy them time, to give them the opportunity to reflect and give them the chance to realize that things might look better the next morning,” Ritchie once said. “You just can’t sit there and watch them. You’ve got to try and save them.”
:’( Bless him<3
